Cursillo is a Spanish word which means “short course”. It is a short course in Christian living. Cursillo consists of a weekend retreat open to all Catholic adults: men and women, single or married, laity, clergy, sisters and priests. As it is structured, men attend one weekend and then women attend the following weekend. This is ideal for couples who long to enrich their Catholic Christian Lives and find a more fulfilling relationship with God and each other.
Cursillo is an opportunity to renew and expand your own personal spiritual growth in a 3-day retreat-like atmosphere at the beautiful natural setting in the mountains near Julian.
Throughout the weekend, you will join other Catholics in a structured and joyful atmosphere in which spiritual growth is attainable through fellowship and trust. As you open your heart and better understand God’s presence within you, you are surrounded by Christ’s love and joy. It can change your life.
The enriching experience will consist of:
- Meditations, the Eucharist and devotional time
- Listening to inspiring talks and participating in group discussions
- Celebrating in joyful liturgies and song
- Communicating with God in prayer
For those of you who have attended a Cursillo. We have begun a monthly Downtown Ultreya that supports St. Joseph’s Parish and Our Lady of the Rosary Parish Cursillo Community. It is an important element for the success of your Cursillo experience.
Ultreya means “to go forward”. It is an opportunity for those who have completed the Cursillo Retreat to come together for Christian social and spiritual conversations and song. The Ultreya locations, date, and times are listed in the bulletin each month.
